REVIEW:
Since we were just quickly passing by Paso Robles for one night to see the Bruce Munro: Field Of Lights art exhibit (click here to read about it), we decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Paso Robles.

Although short, our stay went really well. The person at the front desk asked me which floor we preferred because the hotel wasn’t too packed. I asked for the first floor so it would be easier to haul our luggage in and out since we were only there for one day.

We stayed in Room 105, which was perfect because it was close to the front desk, the free breakfast, and the pool/gym. It was a standard room with 2 Queen Beds. As a family of 4, I usually try to get a bigger room because the kids start to feel cooped up and irritate each other LOL. But, since we were only there for one night, I picked the cheapest room possible and we had no complaints.

The hotel was clean, which (with kids) is my BIGGEST requirement of course! Here are some photos of the room:

My family knew that I would be “working” on this trip so I brought along my laptop. It was nice that they had a pull out desk that I could work on. There was a plug close by that I can plug my laptop into also. This is a plus for me because I have an older MacBook and the charging cord is not that long.

RJ and the kids fell asleep with the quickness so I was able to do what I needed to do on my computer and go to bed later that night.

The next morning, I was happy that the hotel still offered free breakfast. Side note – when I choose hotels, I always try to pick one that offers free breakfast. With kids, you gotta take advantage of saving every dollar you can right?

Because of COVID, they pre-packaged the meals and served it to you instead of you serving yourself. I forgot to take photos, but this particular day, they offered Bacon/Egg/Potato Burritos, Sausage/Egg/Potato Burritos, and Sausage/Egg Muffin Sandwiches. They also served fresh made pancakes, cereals and yogurts. It was a really good variety which I liked because my kids are straight PICKY! I had the sausage burrito, RJ had the sausage sandwich, and the kids had pancakes and yogurt.

Once we were done eating breakfast, we decided to check out the pool. It was still open during COVID, but I think they limit the amount of people using it at one time. We let the kids swim for a good hour before we decided to head out.

The gym was open also. We didn’t take advantage of it, but they had a good variety of machines and weights. Only 2 people are allowed in at a time during COVID. Here are some photos:

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was good, it was family/kid friendly, and good for those on a budget.
