Since this is our third and last baby, I definitely wanted to take advantage of literally everything. We never did a gender reveal with our first 2 kids, so I figured why not? So I began brainstorming!
I didn’t want to do the typical cut the cake, confetti cannon, or pop the balloon gender reveal. Not that there’s anything wrong with it…I just wanted something different. My husband owns a Chevy Camaro and he instantly said he wanted to do a tire burnout for our gender reveal! So, why didn’t we do that, you might ask? Two Reasons: first, he is extremely picky about his car and wouldn’t let ANYONE do the burnout. It would have to be him. Because of this, it would be me outside of the car watching the gender reveal alone and I wasn’t down with that. Second, I really really wanted something that had the kids involved and that wasn’t it.
Back to the drawing board!!! I searched Pinterest over and over and just couldn’t find much of anything. I did see the hard boiled egg idea where you smash the pink or blue egg on your head until you’re left with the one that still has the yoke in the middle. I also saw the dart/balloon game where you had 12 black balloons on a board, and you had to throw darts to pop each balloon until the right color confetti comes out. The kids could totally be involved with these ideas, but my problem with both of these games was that since they were all random, you could pop the correct balloon, or crack the right egg, in the beginning and the game would be over. To me, it would only be worth it if we found out at the very end and that wouldn’t be possible unless someone knew exactly which one the gender was in and I literally wanted NO ONE to know.
Back to the drawing board once again! I found a different variation of a water gun gender reveal on YouTube. This family actually decided to spray a canvas with the spray paint in order to have a keepsake for baby’s room afterwards. I thought…this would be so much fun for the kids! So, I immediately went on Amazon to look for water guns. My biggest fear was getting a water gun that leaked. Luckily, the ones we bought didn’t leak AT ALL! I bought crayons washable paint (which by the way, wasn’t very washable) in both pink and blue since we didn’t know what the gender was. I used 50/50 water, paint mixture. Our cousin volunteered last minute to fill up the water guns 10 minutes before we were set to do our gender reveal, and it worked out GREAT!
